Library Collections

Library collections at PAU include print and electronic books, published tests and assessments, DVD and streaming videos, and digital academic journals that focus on psychology, counseling, and related disciplines. These resources can be found using our online library catalog, WorldCat Discovery, or our curated collection of online PAU databases.

The PAU Library is committed to developing online collections to meet the needs of our students, faculty, and staff, whether they are local or remote, and regardless of their time zones. Alumni and other affiliates are provided with access to online content while they are on campus and may borrow physical items in the absence of any use restrictions.

In accordance with collection development policies, the PAU Library does not accept donations of used materials. Used books may be donated to Goodwill Industries or Better World Books. If you would like to contribute to our library collections through the PAU Library Endowment Fund, please contact Rebecca Levy, Director of External Affairs, by phone at (650) 433-3838 or via email at rlevy@paloaltou.edu.

Books and eBooks

When available, books are purchased in electronic format for full-text access online; otherwise, print books are selected for purchase and may be checked out at the main campus. The most effective way to find items in the book collection or the eBook collection is by searching in WorldCat Discovery.

Published Tests and Assessments

The collection of published tests and assessments can be searched using WorldCat Discovery and is designed to support classroom instruction and practicum training in psychological assessment as well as research in psychology. These materials are available to current graduate students for faculty-supervised use in accordance with publisher requirements and American Psychological Association (APA) standards.

DVD and Streaming Videos

DVD videos are available for checkout at the main campus, and a vast array of streaming videos are available online. Items in the DVD and streaming video collections can be found through a WorldCat Discovery search. These videos cover a wide range of disciplines, but they also provide targeted support for clinical and therapeutic training in psychology and counseling.

Digital Academic Journals

Articles from academic journals are available in full text online through the PAU databases, along with other types of electronic content including conference papers, newspaper articles, eBook chapters, book reviews, and abstracts of every sort.
