Faculty Research Funding

Each year there is an annual pool of monies available to support Faculty research expenses from the Office of the Provost.

Priority is given to tenure track Assistant Professors and Teacher Scholar Assistant Professors, as well as to research projects that have few to no avenues for external funding.

The Faculty Research Committee will review applications for research funds and make recommendations to the CAO. Approval is subject to budget, IRB approval, requires final approval of the CAO For more information, see PAU Faculty and Research Funds Guidelines.

For specific guidelines on utilizing Faculty Research Funds see PAU Faculty and Research Funds Guidelines.

About the Faculty Research Committee

The Faculty Research Committee is entrusted with the responsibility of supporting the Office of Faculty Success by actively engaging in the review and recommendation process for faculty research funding proposals. The committee members shall diligently assess and evaluate research proposals submitted by faculty members, ensuring the alignment with the institution's research objectives and priorities.

In fulfilling this charge, the committee shall carefully examine the quality, feasibility, and potential impact of each research proposal. They should consider factors such as the originality of the research, the significance of the research problem being addressed, the methodology employed, and the feasibility of the proposed budget. The committee's recommendations should reflect a fair and thorough assessment, taking into account the institution's research funding guidelines and policies.

Furthermore, the Faculty Research Committee should actively review and provide valuable insights on policies related to research funding opportunities for faculty. This includes keeping abreast of changes in funding regulations, identifying areas for improvement, and recommending modifications or additions to existing policies as necessary. The committee should ensure that faculty members have equitable access to funding opportunities and that the policies are transparent, consistent, and supportive of faculty research endeavors.
