Joan Christodoulou, Ph.D. Dr. Christodoulou's website   ** Not accepting new students**   The Developing Minds Lab focuses on understanding how early experiences impact our development and how we can develop and inform interventions serving children and youth experiencing the greatest disparities. Using neurobiological and behavioral measures, we explore the intersection between health, development, and cognition.
Current projects include investigating risk and protective factors influencing development from early childhood into early adulthood in at-risk, underserved, and disenfranchised children and their families in the U.S. and South Africa. We employ varied methodological approaches including behavioral, psychological, and physiological assessments and advanced statistical analyses including longitudinal modeling.   As part of Developing Minds, students have the opportunity to take part in the research process at all levels, from idea conception, to literature reviews, devising research questions and designs, recruiting and engaging with participants, managing databases, conducting analyses, and disseminating results by preparing manuscripts and conference presentations. Students may propose secondary analyses of ongoing national and international longitudinal samples of children, youth, and their families or may initiate new research projects based on their interests and career goals.   Apply:   Submit the following items to Dr. Christodoulou by the PAU deadline:
