Employment, Practica & Internships
On Campus Employment
Limited on-campus employment opportunities can be found on the PAU Student Job Board. If you are an F-1 student and have been hired in an on campus job, you will need to present your passport and I-20 form to Human Resources so an I-9 form may be completed before you begin working.
F-1 students may work up to 20 hours/week maximum while school is in session, 40 hours/week during school breaks.
Maintaining F-1 Status
Keep your passport valid for at least six months into the future at all times.
Have a copy of your most recent I-94 with you at all times.
Maintain a valid I-20: have your I-20 updated by ISS (International Student Services) if you have changes such as your major, change of name, and/or completion of degree date.
Enroll in a full PAU course load every quarter. Full time for undergraduates is 12 units per quarter. Full time for graduates is a minimum 9 units per quarter, except during practicum and internship.

California Driver’s License Information
If you want to apply for California Driver’s License or ID you need to bring your I-20, I-94 and passport to the local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) see addresses below. To apply for a driver's license you will need to take a vision test, a written test on California driving laws*, and an in car driving test.
