Celebrating Staff Contributions and Milestones

Staff Appreciation 2025

As part of Palo Alto University’s annual Celebration Week, the Division of Finance and Operations and the People Operations department hosted our Staff Appreciation Celebration on Thursday, June 12—a joyful and heartfelt gathering dedicated to recognizing the remarkable staff who form the foundation of PAU.

Staff Appreciation 2025This year’s theme, “Celebrating the Exciting Transitions Ahead,” was especially meaningful as it marked a time of both reflection and anticipation. In her opening remarks, President Maureen O’Connor shared words of gratitude and encouragement as she prepares for her own transition into retirement. “While leadership may change, our core values and mission remain steadfast,” she affirmed. “You are the constant that carries us forward.”

President O’Connor’s message was echoed in the spirit of the day: honoring not only individual milestones but the collective strength of a dedicated community. In recognition of their unwavering contributions, staff were thanked with a small but practical gift—a portable powerbank—and gifted an extended break this July, with four additional days off to rest and recharge.

Maria Cammarata, Director of People Operations, led the celebration alongside colleagues and partners who helped bring the event to life. Special thanks were given to the planning team, IT, Facilities, the Creative Services team, and many others for ensuring a seamless and meaningful experience for both in-person and remote attendees.

Staff Appreciation 2025Years of Service Awards

PAU recognized over 40 staff members for reaching important service milestones—from one year to 15 years. These individuals have each made lasting contributions to the university’s mission, and their work continues to shape the student experience and institutional success. Among those honored were team members across BISA, Academic & Student Affairs, Finance & Operations, The Clinics @ PAU, and the President’s Office. A full list of recipients was shared during the event and celebrated by peers and leadership alike.

Special Recognition: President Maureen O’Connor

In a touching moment, the staff took time to honor President O’Connor for her years of leadership and impact. She was presented with a framed photograph from Opening Day 2023 as a keepsake, with staff invited to sign the mat and contribute messages of thanks to a digital scrapbook being created in her honor. The gesture reflected deep appreciation for her guidance, compassion, and commitment to the PAU community.
