The goal of the M.S. Organizational and Business Psychology program is to develop leaders for today's workplace in roles such as:

This program is being developed in consultation with business leaders in Silicon Valley -- Palo Alto University's home base -- and elsewhere. They have emphasized the need for HR and IO directors, analysts and consultants who possess practical business savvy along with an understanding of human and organizational behavior.

The curriculum is responsive to technology, communication and human mobility phenomena that have globalized the world of work and transformed the relationship of businesses to their internal and external constituents. It will prepare managers across functions with evidence-based and responsive approaches for contemporary workplace issues.

Employment Outlook for IO and HR

This Master's degree in Organizational and Business Psychology has a clear connection to both IO and HR, two fields for which the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) projects near-term growth.

IO is one of the fastest growing occupations in the U.S. The BLS projects 53% growth between 2012-2022. The mean national annual wage for this profession is $83,580 and can be significantly higher in some states, metropolitan areas and industries.

HR is growing at a moderate rate of 13%. However, this growth rate translates to about 13,600 new jobs between 2012 and 2022. The mean national annual wage is $114,140 and can be significantly higher in some states, metropolitan areas and industries.
