PAU Announces Partnership with Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) in Cambodia

Palo Alto University (PAU) is delighted to announce that following a recent February 2015 visit to the Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO) in Cambodia, a long-term relationship has been established between PAU and TPO.

PAU President Dr. Allen Calvin commented about establishing the long-term relationship with TPO Cambodia,

“Dr. Nigel Field was profoundly committed in his research and teaching to helping the people of Cambodia, and we are extremely pleased to continue his legacy.”

About Transcultural Psychosocial Organization (TPO)

TPO was established in 1995 as a branch of the Netherlands-based Non-Government Organizations (NGO), ‘TPO International’ to alleviate psychological and mental health problems of Cambodians in the wake of decades of war and upheaval. Since 1995, it has provided mental health care and support to tens of thousands of Cambodians. In 2000 it became an independent local NGO, ‘TPO Cambodia’, run by Cambodians for Cambodians

Today, it is still Cambodia’s leading NGO in the field of mental health care and psychosocial support. 

2015 is a year of celebration for TPO as it marks it's 20th anniversary.  During the Feb 2015 ceremony, at which his Majesty King Sihamoni was present the Director of TPO, Dr. Sopeara Chhim, announced their relationship with Palo Alto University. His Majesty expressed his sincere appreciation of TPO’s efforts to help people with mental health problems in Cambodia.  

PAU working with TPO Centers in Cambodia:

• Mutual research projects will be created and PAU students will be given the opportunity to carry out research with TPO.  We will identify students who would like to carry out joint research and co-publish research papers, and other future projects.  
• PAU will provide coaching and advice to TPO staff to create Business Psychology workshops to promote growth for local businesses in Cambodia.
• TPO Director, Dr. Chhim, will visit Palo Alto University in January 2016 to meet and get to know our community and will also give presentations about their center's excellent work.
• After formally announcing the relationship, links to PAU’s website, Twitter feed and Facebook account will be placed on TPO digital channels and vice versa.
