LGBTQI+ Town Hall on COVID-19 and Mental Health
The COVID-19 pandemic is increasing stress and anxiety for many in our community. The County of Santa Clara’s Behavioral Health Services Department, in collaboration with Palo Alto University and the Q Corner, is sponsoring a virtual Town Hall to support the health and well-being of the community's LGBTQI+ population on June1, the first day of Pride Month.
Kimberly Balsam, Chair of Palo Alto University's Department of Psychology and Director of the Center for LGBTQ Evidence-Based Applied Research, is one of the presenters.
Participants will:
- Learn tips for managing stress, including anxiety and depression
- Learn about local mental health resources available
- Have an interactive discussion with mental health professionals and peers
Virtual town halls will take place via Zoom and Facebook Live and will be recorded.
Date and time: June 1, 3:30-5:00pm
In addition to Dr. Balsam, presenters include:
• Dr. Jules Chyten-Brennan - Medical Director for Transgender Care at Santa Clara Valley Medical Center for the Gender Health Center (GHC)
• Lida Vala, LMFT - who has a private practice specializing in training and education for providers working with the Transgender & Non-Binary community
