Rwandan President Paul Kagame Recognizes the Work of PAU

Palo Alto University (PAU) is thrilled to announce that President Paul Kagame of Rwanda will be speaking at a dinner event, hosted by PAU on Friday, February 14thin San Francisco. PAU's mission of improving lives globally is reflected in many efforts across the world in Latin America, China, and Rwanda in the Global Advancement of Counseling Excellence (GACE). 

Palo Alto University’s Dr. William Froming has been working with Rwandan genocide survivors for the last ten years; the Rwandan president’s visit to PAU recognizes Dr. Froming’s tireless efforts to provide teaching, workshops, and counseling to the survivors of the 1990s genocide.

President Kagame will address the Los Angeles World Affairs Council and UCLA’s Center for World Health on Wednesday, before he travels north for the PAU-hosted event. In 1994, Kagame led the Rwandan Patriotic Front in their successful overthrow of the extremist Hutu-led government, which was responsible for more than one million deaths. Since winning his first election in 2003, Kagame has formed close relations with the U.S., which has in turn provided Rwanda with military aid and development assistance.

One of PAU’s key missions is to help improve lives around the world—and its Global Mental Health Programs and Initiatives are an important component of achieving that aim.
