PAU Software Downloads and Purchases Policy

Students, faculty, and staff are able to purchase a variety of discounted software titles through Information Technology Department or various software vendors.

PAU Online Software Store

Some discounted software applications are available through the JourneyEd.  This allows students, faculty, and staff to purchase software without having to come to campus during business hours and to save both time and money, eliminating extra shipping costs.

 

Free Software

  • Office 365 - Microsoft Office Suite (Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • Qualtrics - Online Survey Platform(Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • Google Suite - Google Productivity Applications (Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • Docusign - Document Signing (Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • Zoom - Online Video Collaboration(Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • e2Campus - Campus Alert Management System (Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • Papercut - Online web printing (Students, Staff, and Faculty)
  • MPLUS

Microsoft and Adobe Software

For information on making institutional purchases of Microsoft or Adobe software please contact support@paloaltou.edu as we have contracts signed with the AICCU (Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities) and Computer Land of Silicon Valley.

Other Software Purchases

ALL IT and products including software and services must be purchased through the Information Technology Department and/or require CIO approval. These items include, but are not limited to computers, tablets, servers, monitors, routers and switches, audio visual equipment, multi-function printers/copiers, software, etc. In accordance with PAU policies, additional approvals may be required depending on the cost.

Justification

The goal of the approval process is to ensure that all IT hardware, software and services are compatible with PAU’s technology environment and that they meet PAU IT security policies prior to purchase. Information Technology Department works closely with the CFO and Legal Counsel to ensure technology purchases are compliant with applicable policies, regulations, contracts and vendor licenses. IT requests are also reviewed to ensure they align with IT best practices and standards which improve reliability and reduce the total cost of ownership.

Exceptions and Notes

The following items do not require CIO approval and can be purchased by departments. For items in bold below, it is recommended that you work with Information Technology Department to purchase and ensure that it will function properly. Please send email to support@paloaltou.edu for assistance in purchasing these items.

  1. Consumables (paper, toner, etc.) for printers and multifunction devices may be purchased by departments.
  2. Surge Protectors
  3. Mice/Keyboards
  4. Headphones
  5. Privacy Screens
  6. Flash drives
