Interlibrary Loan

Tipasa ILL logo.

Interlibrary loan (ILL) is a free service offered by the PAU Library for students, faculty, staff, and alumni to request electronic copies of journal articles and book chapters using Tipasa, PAU's ILL system.

The PAU Library does not provide physical items through ILL but does supply electronic copies of documents to the extent allowed by copyright laws and licensing terms (i.e., a single journal article or book chapter).

Brief instructions for using ILL are provided below. Complete ILL instructions and policies can be found in the PAU Library | Interlibrary Loan Services Guide, along with tips and tricks for finding elusive library materials.

Please contact our ILL staff via email at ill@paloaltou.edu if you have any questions or need additional assistance when using our ILL services.

ILL Instructions for PAU Users

Please refer to the guide linked below for complete ILL instructions and policies and for information to help you locate library materials that are freely available online or elsewhere.

ILL Authentication

You will need to log into the PAU databases and WorldCat Discovery using your OneLogin credentials (PAU email address and password) in order to submit article and chapter requests and receive copies via electronic delivery using ILL. Please email librarian@paloaltou.edu if you have any difficulties with authentication.

ILL Electronic Deliveries

ILL documents will be delivered electronically to your library account in WorldCat Discovery, where you may download deliveries and manage ILL transactions. Use the direct link below to go to your library account's ILL portal.

Submitting ILL Requests

Using the PAU Databases:

When searching the PAU databases (linked below), you may submit an automated ILL request for a document if a full-text link is not available. Just click on the ILL request link in the database record. The appropriate request form (article copy or chapter copy) will launch with the citation information autofilled, and you will only need to complete the remaining required fields before submitting.

Using WorldCat Discovery:

To obtain a document using a citation when the material is not available through the PAU Library, you may submit a manual ILL request via your library account in WorldCat Discovery using the link below. You will need to select the appropriate request form (article copy or chapter copy) and complete all of the required fields before submitting.

ILL Help

Please contact the ILL staff via email at ill@paloaltou.edu if you have any questions or need any assistance with placing an ILL request for the materials you need.

Can't find a complete item through the PAU Library that you can check out or view online, like a book or a video? Submit an Item Request Form (linked below) to let the PAU librarians know what you need.
