PAU Welcomes New Trustees Shari Miles-Cohen, PhD, and Helen M. Wilmot

Shari Miles Cohen

  Palo Alto University is pleased to announce two new trustees to the University’s Board of Trustees: Shari Miles-Cohen, PhD, and Helen M. Wilmot.   Shari Miles-Cohen holds a doctoral degree in Personality Psychology from Howard University and has dedicated her career to the fields of psychology and social issues. For fifteen years, she worked at the American Psychological Association (APA) as a Senior Director of the Human Rights Team, Women’s Programs, and Ethnic Minority Affairs.   Dr. Miles-Cohen brings considerable academic, administrative, and executive leadership experience to her new role on PAU’s Board of Trustees. She is currently the Executive Director of the National Communication Association (NCA) in Washington, DC, and was previously a Congressional Fellow and an adjunct professor at Howard University. Before APA, she led the Society for the Psychological Study of Social Issues, the Union Institute Center for Women, the African American Women’s Institute at Howard University and the Women’s Research & Education Institute.
Helen Wilmot

  Helen M. Wilmot brings nearly 20 years of experience from Stanford Health Care to PAU’s Board of Trustees. From 2005 to 2012, Wilmot was the Vice President of Ambulatory Care, managing 32 outpatient clinics where 1,300 faculty, residents, and fellows offered medical care. Since 2012, Wilmot has been the Chief Facilities & Sustainability Officer – General Services and Space Planning at Stanford Healthcare, where she manages 55 properties, 2,000 staff, and a budget of $300 million.   Wilmot’s career has touched all aspects of health care delivery, from direct patient care as a critical care nurse, to clinical information systems, to senior management of facilities. She was the operational lead for building a new hospital, which was a $2 billion investment to expand Stanford’s medical campus. With her expertise in patient care, clinic operations, and facilities management, Wilmot’s contribution will be invaluable as PAU continues to expand its community clinics and improve the quality of care.
