Have you made a New Year’s resolution to advance your career? Would you like to earn CE credits – or perhaps even a certificate in a specialty area of practice such as Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or child custody evaluation?

Palo Alto University’s (PAU) Division of Continuing & Professional Studies, CONCEPT, offers advanced professional training for mental health and allied professionals, from in-person and online psychology courses, to certificates and trainings for professionals who wish to develop new areas of expertise and skills required for practice in specialized domains. Specialty areas include: Forensic Psychology, Police & Public Safety, Digital & Telehealth, Evidence-based Interventions, Clinical Child & Adolescent, and Clinical Neuropsychology.

CONCEPT also provides group training to professional associations, civic groups, government agencies, and other organizations, allowing their professional staff to learn specialized skills together as well as earn CE credits.

A mix of live and on-demand trainings make our courses a year-round source for professional development and career advancement for a broad array of mental health and allied professionals.

For example, there are timely and relevant on-demand webinars online right now, including:

  • Specialized Violence: Elder Abuse
  • Vicarious Trauma, Compassion Fatigue, and Burnout
  • The Behavioral Science of Firearms: A Mental Health Perspective
  • Ethical Dilemmas and Complex Relationships in Police and Public Safety Psychology

Additionally, a live webinar case review series on Historical-Clinical-Risk-Management-20 Version 3 (HCR-20 V3) will begin in January. The four-part series on risk management case review will feature practice cases to assess and manage violence risk. Each of the cases are derived from real, sanitized cases across workplace and higher education settings. Participants will earn 8 CEs for each completed section.

Content for PAU’s Division of Continuing & Professional Studies is curated by renowned psychologist Patricia Zapf, Ph.D. “Our trainings are ideal for developing skills, following best practices, and improving credibility, all of which can be attractive to potential clients and employers alike and maintain competency as mandated by CE requirements,” says Dr. Zapf.

A full course schedule can be found here. All programs are free for PAU students and graduates for the year following graduation, with a 50% discount available to alumni. PAU students and alumni should contact caps@paloaltou.edu to receive a discount code before registering, and program managers should also email caps@paloaltou.edu to discuss tailored content.   Happy training!
