Dr. June Klein: PAU CFO Serving Palo Alto Community

As VP of business affairs and CFO at Palo Alto University (PAU), June Klein, Ed.D. (photo left) takes her responsibilities to the community very seriously; and thanks to her tireless work with the younger generation, she has recently been given highly deserved awards and responsibilities.

Klein has been working under the radar to bring leading community figures together to work towards common goals. At the heart of this collaborative idea is Klein’s (proven) theory that when vital resources are pooled, the community benefits so much more than it would have if everyone worked independently.

“When it came to work in the community, there were large amounts of duplications across different organizations. I wanted to find a way to cross-pollinate these resources and ensure gaps were filled and every last drop of reward was squeezed out of everybody’s collaborative efforts.”

Recipient of the Asian American Hero & Distinguished Service Awards

At the end of 2012, Klein received the Asian American Hero Award for her outstanding contribution to the community.

In September 2013, Klein accepted the Kiwanis Distinguished Service Award in recognition of her impressive community-based efforts with the Kiwanis Club. Club secretary, Hal Lovell said of Klein, “Immediately upon joining our club, June joined the Bowling for a Better Community fundraiser and found prizes for the auction. When asked to be a Key Club advisor, June did everything possible to help Gunn High School students invigorate their Key Club.”

Onward and Upward

The hard work hasn’t stopped there. Klein was recently named chair of the Fielding Alumni Council, and she will continue her work with the Palo Alto Family YMCA as board chair in 2014.

From PAU President Dr. Allen Calvin: "June tries to improve the life of every one she encounters. We are very fortunate to have her as the CFO of Palo Alto University".
