Palo Alto University at California Psychological Association 2022 Convention

  Many Palo Alto University students and alumni are involved with the California Psychological Association, and attended the 2022 Convention in Sacramento September 22-25th.   PAU alumnus, faculty member, and Trustee Jorge Wong, PhD, was bestowed the Distinguished Contribution to Psychology Award. This award is given to a professional who has exhibited sustained, exemplary service to the psychology profession or whose work has “increased public awareness of psychology and mental health.” He's pictured above, right with Dr. Xiaolong Li, a graduate of the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium.
Cheryl Bowers

  Dr. Cheryl Bowers, an alumna from the PAU PhD in Clinical Psychology program was awarded the Silver Psi Award. This award recognizes her outstanding service to the California Psychological Association, “demonstrated by dedicated leadership, contributing to important or sustainable changes, furthering the organization’s goals and objectives, and strongly advocating for our profession."   Additionally, two alumni, Joshua Heitzman, PhD, and Jessica Byrd-Olmstead, PhD, serve on the CPA Board of Directors. Students Maya Wong and Akemi Kawano also presented posters. Alumna Sara Nasserzadeh, PhD, co-presented a pre-conference institute entitled, “The Air We Breathe: Moving from Cross-Cultural Tolerance to Intercultural Fluency.” And alumni Joshua Heitzman, PhD, and Jorge Wong, PhD, sponsored PAU students at the Santa Clara County Psychological Association (SCCPA) table at the CPA-PAC Dinner. Also in attendance were Ashton Scherrer and Rachel Harding, the former and current, respectively, CPA Campus Representatives at PAU.   Featured below are several photos, courtesy of Dr. Jorge Wong, from the Convention.
