Biography: 

Dr. Paul Marcille joined the Palo Alto University administration and faculty in 2006 in order to create the PAU Bachelor’s degree programs. Dr. Marcille obtained his B.A. in Psychology from Ohio University and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Health Sciences/the Chicago Medical School with a specialty in behavioral medicine. He completed his pre-doctoral clinical internship at the North Chicago Veterans Administration Medical Center and his postdoc at Woodbridge Hospital in Virginia, where he became the Director of Psychological Services.

In 1988, seizing an opportunity to move to France, Dr. Marcille became the Director of Counseling Services at the American University of Paris (AUP), supervising the health, career and psychological services provided to an international student body. Shortly thereafter, Dr. Marcille became the Vice-President and Dean of Student Affairs and a member of the President’s cabinet at AUP. During his 18 year tenure at the American University of Paris, Dr. Marcille was also a faculty member, teaching many undergraduate courses, and he created and chaired the Psychology Department, which is now one of the larger majors at AUP. 

Dr. Marcille is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with a specialty working with adolescent and university age students and with men. During his tenure in Paris, he maintained a private practice and was a member and President of the International Counseling Service (ICS), an association of Anglophone psychologists and psychiatrists in France. He was on the board of directors of several international schools and is an expert on international education. Since coming to PAU, Dr. Marcille has served as the President of the Santa Clara County Psychological Association (SCCPA) and is currently a member of the Board of Directors of SCCPA and the California Psychological Association. He has a private practice in Los Gatos. Dr. Marcille’s clinical and research interests include culture shock, multilingualism, men’s psychology and developmental issues in late adolescence and early adulthood. He speaks French fluently.
