Prior to Modern Health, Dr. Altman was a scholar and postdoctoral design fellow at the Clinical Excellence Research Center (CERC) at Stanford University's School of Medicine where its mission is to discover, design, and disseminate innovations that reduce the cost of great care for conditions consuming the bulk of U.S. health care spending.

Dr. Myra Altman is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist and the VP of Clinical Care at Modern Health. Myra received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Washington University in St. Louis where her research focused on the prevention and treatment of childhood obesity. This sparked an interest in the structural factors that influence personal health and well-being, including how the workplace can promote or hinder well-being. She has spent a decade providing evidence-based care for anxiety, depression, and health psychology and is passionate about how to ensure these approaches are scaled across populations. Myra completed a fellowship in value-based healthcare at Stanford Clinical Excellence Research Center where she focused on understanding how best to improve the quality of care while ensuring sustainable costs. She brings all of these perspectives to Modern Health, a mental health benefits start-up, where she is the VP of Clinical Care. Her team oversees cost-effective triaging, the quality of the coaching and therapy network, digital content and tools, as well as research and outcomes. Myra grew up in South Africa, went to cooking school before college and remains passionate about food, and is an aspirational runner and gardener.
