Systematic Treatment Selection: Eight Evidence-Based Principles

A two hour training workshop for PAU affiliated psychotherapists & students (includes 2 hours of Continuing Education Units for CA Licensed Clinical Psychologists)

Nancy Haug, Ph.D. & Satoko Kimpara, Ph.D.

Dr. Beutler is Wm Mclnnes Distinguished Professor Emeritus at Palo Alto University. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Professional Psychology (ABPP), a fellow of both American Psychological Association (APA) and Association for Psychological Science (APS). Past President of Division 29 (Psychotherapy) & of Division 12 (Clinical) of APA, and a two term Past President (international) of the Society of Psychotherapy Research (SPR). Among his citations and achievements, he is a recipient of Distinguished Career Award from SPR, the Gold Medal Award from the American psychological Foundation, and a Presidential citation for achievement from the APA.

This workshop will present an integrative model for transferring scientific principles to psychotherapy in supervision. It will provide eight evidence-based principles and how to apply them in clinical supervision to tailor treatment based on client factors, utilizing a cloud-based assessment (www.innerlife.com). The presenters will demonstrate application of these principles, the measurement of relevant treatment and client qualities, and the fit of the treatment to the client using clinical case material.

Workshop Objectives: 

  • Learn Systematic Treatment Selection (STS) and the eight evidence- based principles of change in psychotherapy. 
  • 
Become trained in the STS/Innerlife online assessment and the comprehensive report it provides. 

  • Develop case formulation skills for supervision using the STS principles and Innerlife.com report. 


Attendance is free for all PAU affiliated faculty, supervisors, students.
