Campus Message #2 Regarding COVID-19

Dear Palo Alto University Community,

As you are likely aware, the situation involving COVID-19 is an evolving one. At PAU, we are closely monitoring the latest updates and guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department. We are actively consulting with our community partners, with other universities, and with the American Psychological Association, among others, to ensure we have the latest knowledge and guidance to provide.

The President’s Cabinet is meeting daily at 8:30 a.m. to coordinate the University’s response as the situation evolves and will update the campus community accordingly. We met yesterday with faculty and staff leaders, and are working collaboratively across Divisions to develop contingency plans for conducting business operations and classes online should it become necessary.

At this time, regular work and class schedules continue to be in place. We encourage all members of our community to follow previously shared preventive hygiene guidance, including washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands, and cleaning and disinfecting shared surfaces and objects that are touched frequently. Students and employees who are sick or are exhibiting signs of illness are asked to stay home.

Please note that all communications to the PAU community, as well as resource information, is being posted at

We appreciate your support and patience as we navigate this challenging situation.

Thank you,

President Maureen O’Connor
