Dear PAU Students:

In response to the evolving Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the President’s Cabinet, along with campus partners, are closely monitoring the situation and developing contingencies should PAU need to move operations online. At this time, regular class schedules continue to be in place, but we are preparing, should the need arise, to deliver all instruction online and to accommodate students who cannot attend on-campus classes due to illness or quarantine.

In the event we need to make a change to campus classroom and teaching operations, we share the following information:

·       All faculty are being trained to conduct courses and other campus responsibilities remotely.

·       PAU’s online learning management system, Canvas, will offer needed training and support for students. Canvas is supported by PAU’s Academic Technology office, which is managed by PAU’s library staff. PAU Librarian Scott Hines and Glenn Saito, Instructional Design & Media Specialist, are also available to assist students.

·       All students should be able to access PAU’s online meeting tool, ZOOM. If you do not currently use ZOOM, we encourage you to become familiar with it through the PAU portal should we need to use for instruction.  ZOOM support can be provided by the IT Support Desk at support@paloaltou.edu

Please note that the above information is intended for all students, but that additional protocols have been established for clinical work at the Gronowski Clinic, clinical placements and research related activities. These plans, which will be shared separately, have been developed with guidance from our accrediting partners and are compliant with all accreditation requirements.

We appreciate all the measures being taken by our community to keep each other healthy during this challenging time. Please be sure to follow preventive guidelines for preventing spread of the virus, including washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching your face with unwashed hands, and cleaning and disinfecting shared surfaces and objects that are touched frequently. Students and employees who are sick or are exhibiting signs of illness are asked to stay home.

All communications to the PAU community, as well as resource information, is being posted at https://www.paloaltou.edu/palo-alto-university-coronavirus-resource-page.

Thank you,

Dean of Students, Thom Shepard
