Listening Sessions - SEVP/Fall 2020 Guidance

Hi Everyone,

I know SEVP (ICE)'s announcement is causing enormous stress and worry. In my 25 years in working with international students, this is by far the most draconian policy I have ever seen. There has been a huge outpouring of support and concern from faculty and fellow students as well as PAU leadership.
Please know I may not have answers to some of your questions because there still is uncertainty.  But I need to hear your voices, and I hope hearing mine will bring at least a little bit of relief.
Days/times for ALL listening sessions to be held at this zoom link:
Wednesday, July 8th 4pm-5pm
Thursday July 9th 9am-10am and 7pm-8pm
Let me explain why I've asked for your patience thus far-
1. I've been working with colleagues from other schools and the national NAFSA committee I sit on, to collaborate on issues to bring to SEVP's attention (whether or not they will listen and make changes is unknown).
2.  I have been providing PAU leadership with data and information that is assisting them in working towards a solution
3. I have met with immigration attorneys to get their analysis.  It's been less than 36 hours since the guidance was issued, so there *may* be legal challenges to the SEVP Guidance in the future, but it's too soon to tell.
Lastly, here are the SEVP FAQs just released today.  They do not offer much reassurance unfortunately.  They will undoubtedly be updated with additional questions and clarifications.
Know that I am thinking of each of you and I look forward to seeing you later this week if you can make it.  If you cannot attend a listening session, please reach out to me and I can meet with you separately.
