F-1 Immigration and Advocacy update

1. Dept. of Homeland Security (specifically the Student and Exchange Visitor Program) now is allowing students to enroll online full time and maintain lawful F-1 status.  Students who are outside the U.S. but enrolled full time in online courses are also considered to maintain lawful status.
2. There are currently no changes to CPT rules.
3. As of late March 2020, USCIS has not published any anticipated delays in processing OPT applications.  Much of their work is already remote, so this is unlikely to be a big disruption for this particular service.
4. There are many people advocating for F-1 international students. See this NAFSA site for more details and updates.  Know that I am monitoring these advocacy efforts and will keep you informed as things evolve.
