Student Health Insurance

Palo Alto University (PAU) is concerned for the health and welfare of our students and want to assist them in complying with the health insurance mandate requirements under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Because of this, we mandate participation in our Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP), unless the student submits an approved waiver exempting him/her from participation in the plan. Students wishing to submit a request to waive the SHIP for the current academic year must have health insurance that meets the specified waiver criteria (see FAQ’s for more information).

By enrolling as a student at Palo Alto University, students acknowledge that they are required to have medical insurance at all times during their enrollment. They further acknowledge that if they do not have an approved waiver currently on file, they will be responsible for paying for the SHIP charges applied to their accounts on a quarterly basis.  Details of our SHIP plan, information on the waiver procedures, and frequently asked questions are provided herein.
