Borrowing, Returning, Renewing, Holds, and Overdue Fines

Most items in the PAU Library may be borrowed, but some items are for "library use only" or "campus use only" (also known as “non-circulating”) and may not leave the library or campus as indicated. Most books may be borrowed for two weeks. Most reserve books, journals, videotapes, DVDs, and test kits may be borrowed overnight. Materials reserved for specific courses have a variety of circulation policies. See the bottom of this section for more details regarding circulation policies for current students.

It is the responsibility of the borrower to be aware of the due dates of PAU Library materials and to return them on time. If you find that you need to keep any item beyond the due date, please renew by renewing online or by calling the library at 650-433-3808 or emailing

Renew and Place Holds Online

To renew online, go to the library website (PAU website at and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Library in the Connect section) and then click on Find Books, eBooks, Videos, Test Kits and Articles ( and then click on Sign in next to My Library Account up in the top right.

Then you can click on My Library Account, which will now be a live link and the little library icon will have turned green.

It will show the items that you have checked out, and it will show a renew button for the ones that are eligible for renewal.

If you need to renew something that is no longer eligible for renewal, just email the librarian Scott Hines and he can see if the item can be renewed for a longer period of time, for practicum use, for example.

You can also place Holds on items while you are signed in.
