A.    PSC MISSION STATEMENT

The PsyD Student Council serves as a representative body for student issues and goals through collaboration with program leadership, faculty, and staff. The Student Council seeks to foster an amicable integration of both institutions, by addressing the concerns of all members of the PAU and Stanford communities in a prompt and respectful manner. The Student Council promotes student, faculty, and staff accountability within the PsyD program by providing liaisons to each department and maintaining regular communication between leadership, students, and other community members.

B.     OFFICES & DUTIES

1  Election Procedures
The PsyD Student Council is comprised of a minimum of seven student representatives, two from each of the three on-campus classes and one fourth year student. Second and third year representatives are elected by their respective classmates during spring quarter for the following academic year. First year representatives are elected in the fall quarter once entering students have acclimated to the program.

2  Co-Presidents
Two third year representatives are elected to serve as Co-Presidents of the PsyD Governing Council. The Presidents are responsible for overseeing the operations of the Council and assuring adherence to the outlined duties and principles. Presidents serve as liaisons between the PsyD student body and program leadership, meeting monthly or as needed with the PsyD Co-Directors (Drs. Arnow & Breckenridge), and with the PsyD Leadership Team. A member of the PsyD Governing Council also attends quarterly PAU Board of Trustees meetings. Co-Presidents are responsible for disseminating information in a timely manner through all student body communications (i.e., E-mail, class meetings).

3  Class Representatives
Class representatives serve as liaisons between the PsyD Student Council and their respective class and are responsible for regularly surveying class member's concerns, communicating issues to the Council, and disseminating information to their respective classes. Representatives are required to provide a formal forum for class discussion, such as quarterly class meetings, and are encouraged to engage in regular informal communication (i.e., E-mail, in-class announcements). All communication must be accessible to every class member, and should be documented and distributed to both the class and the PsyD Student Council. Representatives are also responsible for serving as a liaison between specific departments within the PsyD program (see Additional Liaison Positions) and the PsyD student body.

4  Treasurer
The Treasurer may be a representative of any year and is responsible for serving as a liaison between the business office and the PsyD Student Council. This individual is responsible for maintaining current financial records for the Council, providing monthly updates at Council meetings, and assuring reimbursement for student services provided (i.e., student reimbursement for expenses, providing reminders about timecards).

5  Additional Liaison Positions
Student liaisons are responsible for maintaining relationships between a designated department and the PsyD Student Council and PsyD student body at large. The contact information and liaison position for each representative will be distributed to the PsyD community during fall quarter, following the election of first year representatives. Faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to contact the appropriate liaison (or one of the PsyD Student Council Co-Presidents, who may defer to a liaison) to communicate information and voice concerns.
