B.S. in Psychology and Social Action
Internships
Senior Internship Requirements

All students in the Psychology & Social Action program are required to complete a 9 month senior internship as part of their studies. The internship provides students with exposure to the practical applications of psychology and social action and helps them to begin exploring career options. Students interested in research will have opportunities to work as research assistants with professors actively engaged in psychological research. Students who prefer to have a internship experience in a community agency, clinical setting or in another area where psychology and social action is being practiced will be placed in a local community organization with which Palo Alto University is affiliated.
The senior internship provides students with academic credit for graduation. Interns work approximately 8 hours per week at their internship site, while also completing their required senior courses. At their internship site, students are supervised by a professional at the agency. They are also supervised by a PSA professor who will help them to integrate their practical experiences with their theoretical course work.
Internship sites may include community mental health centers, local schools, community service agencies, non-profit organizations involved in social action, etc. Click here for a list of organizations at which PSA students have interned in the last few years.
