Palo Alto University Partners with Silicon Valley Organization for Global Technology Drive
Palo Alto University (PAU) will partner with Camara, a Silicon Valley organization dedicated to using technology to improve education in disadvantaged communities globally.
Members of the PAU community have been dedicated to global mental health education for years, including programs in China and Rwanda in addition some PAU students planning to volunteer their time to go to Haiti to join the infrastructure rebuilding effort.
As part of this initiative, PAU will host a computer equipment drive on Friday, March 28, 2014 and is asking for your support in delivering education technology for Haiti and Africa. Please donate your old computers, desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, keyboards, and mice to this worthy cause. Staff at Camara will erase and clean all donated technology devices’ data before shipping them to schools in countries that are desperately in need of technology in their classrooms.
How to Donate Your Device
It’s easy: Camara staff will be at two Palo Alto University, Palo Alto campuses’ parking lots on Friday, March 28, 2014 for the computer drive, and provide you with a tax deduction receipt for your donation.

Camara is one of the world’s leading education-based charities. Its primary goal is to improve learning in disadvantaged communities around the world through the use of technology. One of the ways Camara does this is by reusing old computers and placing them in low-income schools—one computer serves 21 students. It has provided its services in eleven countries and estimates that more than 700,000 students have gained 21st century digital literacy skills using these equipment.
