Scholarships and Fellowships

75% of our undergraduate students demonstrate a need for financial support in order to attend PAU.

There is a great need among PAU undergraduate students for scholarship funds to help them participate in a quality bachelor’s degree program such as the ones that PAU offers. Most of our students work to put themselves through school, and many of them have families of their own. Scholarships help students participate in our programs and make a lasting and positive difference in our local communities once they graduate.

PAU Undergraduate Student Community

Students who attend the PAU Bachelor degree programs are local students from local community colleges. Many have families and jobs and financial constraints that would prevent them from venturing far from home to complete their studies. Most would not have an opportunity to pursue their studies and complete their Bachelor degrees if not for the presence of the PAU programs near their homes. This proximity, the guaranteed classes, and guaranteed course schedule allow them to maintain their jobs and family responsibilities. Once they have completed their studies at PAU, most will remain in the local community and thrive in their careers, serving as role models and engaged citizens.

Amy Wisniewski Fellowship Award

The Amy Wisniewski Fellowship Award was established in 2012 to support students who are pursuing a certificate in neuropsychology or who are working on dissertation projects that enhance the field neuropsychology. The scholarship honors Dr. Amy Wisniewski, who taught neuropsychology at Palo Alto University for many years.

This fellowship is awarded to one student every year who represents diversity of: race, ethnicity, socioeconomic background, gender, culture, geography, and work/life experience.  The selected student should embody Amy’s professional mission and passion for neuropsychology and education.

If you know Dr. Wisniewski, or if you support this field of psychology, we encourage you to donate toward this worthy fellowship to support students on the path of neuropsychology.

Dr. Nigel Field Fellowship and Assistantship

In December, 2013, Palo Alto University lost an esteemed faculty member, a brilliant researcher, and a great friend, Dr. Nigel Field.

Dr. Field became a faculty member at Pacific Graduate School Psychology, Palo Alto University (PAU), in September 1995. Dr. Field's area of expertise was in bereavement, with focus on spousal bereavement, child loss and pet loss. He was one of the first investigators to develop the concept of the continuing bond.  More recently, Dr. Field extended his program of research to Thailand and Cambodia. As part of this work, he examined complicated grief and PTSD stemming from genocide during the Khmer Rouge regime in Cambodia.

Dr. Nigel Field loved working with his students and is responsible for many students becoming clinical psychologists. In his memory and gratitude for his work at PAU, President Dr. Allen Calvin has created a $50,000 student fellowship in Nigel Field’s name. In addition, a Student Assistantship Award will be made in his honor. Dr. Field will be missed by those of the PAU community privileged to learn from him and work with him.
