Ph.D Student Council (STUCO)

The PhD Student Council represents the interests of the students in maintaining a rewarding overall experience at PGSP. Student Council members regularly attend various committee meetings such as the Strategic Planning and Financial Planning meetings to voice the needs of the students. We also welcome ideas and input from students at bi-weekly meetings during fall, winter and spring quarter. We can be very helpful in assisting students to get their great ideas routed through the appropriate channels.

We have many other interesting responsibilities, here are just a few:

We work to pair new students each year with existing 2nd year students through the PAU Buddy program.
We hold several events each year including an annual Welcome Back Cocktail, PAU Gala (fall or spring) and a Spring Festival.
Based on interest we also organize get togethers such as happy hours and bowling.
Each year we hold an annual Staff and Faculty Appreciation Luncheon
We provide input each year for the annual School Feedback Survey
We also hold a vote for a Faculty of the Year award.

The PhD Student council consists of the following 2nd Year officer positions: President, Vice-President, Secretary, Treasurer, Public Relations Officer. There are also several 1st year representatives. All students are welcome at our meetings. 2nd year officers are typically selected in the spring quarter by Student Council or by election (based on number of nominees) from the first year representatives and any other additional interested parties. 1st year representatives are typically selected by Student Council Officers in the fall based on interest.

We are sponsored by Dr. William Froming. Liz Hilt is also instrumental in our success as a group.
