Mental Health Counseling

Faculty

Rebecca Jackson, Ph.D.

Dr. Jackson joined the faculty of Palo Alto University in 2004.  She is passionate about reaching and bringing together students from various corners of the country — and world — to learn and expand their knowledge in order to advance their mental health counseling careers.  She is a true believer that "dreams shouldn't be limited by geography."

Upon receiving her PhD from the University of North Texas, she completed her internship at the University of Washington School of Medicine with a focus on public behavioral health and justice policy. She is also an active researcher, consultant, clinician, and trainer in forensic and correctional environments.  In 2008, she received the Theodore Blau Award for outstanding early career contributions to clinical psychology from the American Psychological Association and the American Psychological Foundation.

Dr. Jackson's teaching style is interactive and engaging, allowing students to share ideas, which fits perfectly with the philosophy of Palo Alto University.  Rather than traditional teaching, where knowledge is typically "broadcast" from professor to student, online learning allows teaching and learning to become a shared endeavor.
